Mr. Tim Yates To All Instructors

Tim Yates is the athletics coach at Scholars. He was born and raised in Dallas, TX and is the biggest Dallas Mavericks fan you will find. He grew up as a multi-sport athlete playing soccer, basketball, baseball, roller hockey, and tennis. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2002 and moved to Houston to work as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. In his 16-year engineering career he worked in R&D, applications engineering, and engineering management.

He and his wife Marla have 4 children and live in the Atascocita area. When his children got to the age to start sports, he volunteered to coach all of their teams each season. This led to the discovery of his passion and calling for coaching and working with kids. In 2019 he took a leap of faith to make coaching kids his full-time endeavor. He opened a sports instruction business called Sportball North Houston where he could make a difference in the lives of children through sport. Sportball provides multi-sport skill instruction to children from 16 months to 12 years of age in 8 different sports. As Coach Tim will tell you, most of his best friends are preschoolers!
